In a first of its kind act, Art Mart is an attempt to bring artists together out in the open to display and sell their artworks. “Inspired by the Chitra Santhe, an annual event in Bangalore, this is an opportunity for the Chennai artists,” says Ganapathy Subramaniam, one of the organisers and co-founder of the group Chennai Weekend Artists.

Getting out of the formal art galleries, Art Mart will showcase the works of more than 75 artists including six school children. Earlier, a week ago, children were invited to paint the banners for the event guided by senior artists.
