Chennai students give way to toppers from smaller towns in higher secondary exam

Chennai district records a pass percentage of 90.76 and about a dozen subject toppers are from Chennai in the higher secondary exams held in March 2011.

Schools run by Chennai Corporation have also fared well this recording a pass percentage of 86.41 with a marginal increase over the last year’s performance of 84.81per cent.

K. Sandhya of SRDF Vivekananda Vidyalaya, Chrompet score the highest mark 1191, followed by V.R. Jayapradha of Vidyodaya School, T.Nagar with a total of 1190.

This year the official topper in the higher secondary exam is not from any metro school. K. Rekha, the state topper is a student of Sri Vijay Vidyalaya School, Hosur with a score of 1190. The state rank goes to the student with the highest score with Tamil as language in the higher secondary classes.

P. Prem Kumar of Chennai Higher Sec. School, Nungambakkam stood first among the Chennai (Corporation) Schools scoring 1174.
