The lead lines of the story:

Akash and Adithya were very excited. It was only two days for Diwali.
They came back from school and were eagerly waiting for their father to
return from office. Their father had promised to take them out to buy crackers.
They sat down to make a list of crackers to buy. Just then the phone
rang. Akash and Adithya ran for the phone.....

Raghav completes the story:

Akash, the elder one picked up the phone. His father was on line. Akash, unable to hide his excitement said, "Yes, Papa". We are ready. When will you come home?

There was total silence for some time.. His father said, "I am struck in traffic, but there is something I want you both to do for me."
Akash said "Yes daddy please tell me". His father said, "Please call Arun uncle and ask him to come to Bazar Road, there is something important".

Akash could sense the seriousness in his father’s voice. It was well past 8 p.m. Akash called his father's close friend, Arun, informed him his father’s message. Waited till his father returned.

It was 11 p.m. when his father came home, Akash was still awake, Adithya his little brother had fallen asleep. Akash could hear his father speaking to his mother with concern in the next room. When he saw Akash, he signalled him to come inside. So, he entered the room, His father curled his arms around Akash’s shoulder and said in a quiet voice, "Akash, why are so disturbed, I really didn’t want to disappoint both of you; but on my way back I saw a small girl with her infant brother who were standing on the platform and crying.. When I approached them, I came to know that some gangsters brought them into the city. This happened while they were travelling by bus with their father. The bus had stopped for snacks break at some roadside restaurant and their father had gone to buy some snacks... Akash’s father stopped for a while, Akash was curious to know more so asked, "What happened next...?"

Some one posing as their father’s friend called the children saying, "Your father is in the shop, round the corner and is calling you".

Without knowing the trick being played, they followed him, but two others there, came forward from the small, crooked lane ... suddenly, they spread a cloth over the children’s face, this made them unconscious and they were brought here.

Akash’s father said that he met them near the signal, where they were left stranded, as Police followed the miscreants due to doubt.

On seeing the children crying, he approached them and learnt all that happened, so took them to the nearest Police Station and handed over them to the authorities and gave them his phone number for any clarification.

Akash felt proud and happy for his father’s responsible act and thought there could be no better Diwali gift than this kind of humane act.
