For the young Chess enthusiasts in the city

The 64-Square chess academy conducted a chess tournament cum workshop for its students on Sunday, the 27th July 2014. It was conducted at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mylapore from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The tournament witnessed active participation of around 75 children from various city schools. These young chess enthusiasts put forward a challenging duel with their friends.

chess1Master Haresh of Vidya Mandir, Estancia, Master Sidharath of Bala Vidya Mandir, Adyar and Master Ashwanth of Vidya Mandir, Estancia, clinched the winners’ trophy in the Under 8, Under 10 and Under 12 category respectively.

Mrs. Maheshwari, Principal, Vidya Mandir, Estancia was the Chief Guest for the evening. She gave away the prizes to the proud winners. In her address to the students, she emphasised the need for extra-curricular activities in general and chess in particular for the development of lateral thinking of the child’s brain.
