A day at Fort St. George – Aug. 23, 2014

Organised by YOCee. From 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
Assemble at the parking lot opposite the main gate of Fort St. George, between 8.45 a.m and 9 a.m.
– Short guided Heritage walk inside Fort St. George
– Scrapbook making session
– ‘Spot on’ – a map reading session
– Art Contest
– Madras Word Game
Open to children studying in class 5 to 12.
Participants should carry a photo Id card or School Id card.

Walk & Make: Madras Scrapbook – Aug. 23, 2014

Starts at Luz Church and ends at The Children’s Club, V.M. Street, Mylapore. From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Free. Children need to bring their own pens, colour pencils, sketch pens, scissors and glue. Resource person Ms. Kalyani Narayanan, Snapshot Memories.

Photowalk for children – Aug. 24, 2014

Organised by YOCee for the Madras Week and led by N. Ramaswamy of Chennai Daily Photo.

Open to children studying in classes 5 to 12. The walk will start at 6.45 a.m. and go on till 8 a.m. (approx.)
Starts from the AMM School gate on the Gandhi Mandapam Road, Kotturpuram and ends at Kotturpuram MRTS Station.

We chose to walk down a part of Kottur, a village in the city of Chennai, its pristine nature in certain parts and get to capture interesting scenes while on the walk!

Children with a camera (any type) and love Chennai can join. Free. Prior registration required. Limited to first 25 registrations. Contact 98405 44629 – Revathi for registration.
Parents are also welcome to join the walk.

Enga area – Photo Essay contest for children (online) – Last date – Aug. 20, 2014

Open to children studying in class 7 to 12.
Research the history, heritage and the everyday life of your neighbourhood. Walk down the are and shoot unique features, heritage landmarks, historical spots, old houses and anything that you feel proud of your area.
Login to http://docs.google.com/presentation/
with your Google account. Create a presentation with the story about your area and photos. Add short descriptions of each photo in the same slide. Share this presentation to the email id – yocee.in@gmail.com. Remember to make the presentation ‘Visible to Public’ under the visibility options.
Number of slides should not exceed 20.
The best three presentations will prizes on Aug. 23, 2014. Winners will be intimated about the time and venue through email.

Madras: As we see it today, a collage contest organised by Namma Arcot Road.
