An English Writing Camp for students of Classes 6 and 7

Dates: Batch 1: April 17 – 23, 2008
          Batch 2: April 24 – 30, 2008

Time: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Course duration: 15 hours

Classes will be held only on week days (Monday to Friday). There will be no classes on Saturdays and Sundays.

Course objectives:

     1.     Make writing an enjoyable, fulfilling and stimulating activity
2.     Introduce participants to different applications of writing
3.     Introduce participants to a structured writing process

Course details

Action-filled sessions, combining classroom teaching, stimulating brainstorming sessions, online fun activities, worksheets, and hands-on writing

A variety of writing activities from crafting a paragraph to writing letters, reports and a story, and concluding with designing an advertisement.

Handouts with practical tips, techniques, and strategies of writing craftsmanship

Rubrics and self-evaluation techniques to mark progress in writing skills

Fees and Benefits

The fees for the summer camp is Rs. 1,500.00 (non refundable).
All participants will receive Participation Certificates. The best writers will be awarded Merit Certificates.

The summer camp will be useful for middle school children who wish to learn about structured writing techniques.

The camp will be led by Mrs. Sumathi Sudhakar, who writes for children. Her works have been published by Scholastic, Chandamama Publications, and Oxford University Press, among others.
