Teaching Fire Safety for nursery kids

Tiny tots are usually scared of sparklers. But the nursery students of D.A.V Nursery  School, Gopalapuram, would be an exception to this.

Thanks to the special Fire Safety Awareness campaign that was conducted in the school premises in the third week of October.

Troops of firemen had come from the Tamil Nadu Fire Service Department to teach the Kinder Garden children  fire safety measures .

This is the third consecutive year this awareness campaign has been held for the Nursery School.

The main purpose of creating this campaign was to make the tiny tots know about the safe usage of fire and fire crackers with live demonstrations.

The fire service crew had brought the Fire Extinguisher, at the sight of which children sprang up with joy as they had previously seen it only in books.

It  was not only the Kinder Garden children who were excited but the high school children too.
The entire school jumped up with excitement when the crew sprayed water from the hose as a part of their demonstrations.

In addition to this, they also demonstrated various ways of saving a person during fire accidents.
Students and faculties  were taught why not to panic and how to put off fire effectively using the extinguisher.

The programme, indeed, had a deep impact in the tender minds in terms of the understanding created during Diwali celebrations as well as general fire safety awareness.

Being the Diwali week, the kinder garden children were taught how to celebrate a safe Diwali after which they were given small pamphlets containing pictures about the DOs and DON’Ts while bursting crackers.
