Cultural festival at Sri Sankara Senior School

This year Sri Sankara Senior Secondary school, Adyar hosted its annual inter-school cultural competition ‘Smaraneeyam and Comvision’ on Aug. 7 to 9, 2014.

The fest was inaugurated by the chief guest, distinguished Toast Master Sastharam Ravendran. The guest of honour was the acclaimed singer Naresh Iyer. Around 21 schools across the city participated in a number of events conducted over three days like Jam, Shipwreck, Light music, Group Dance, voice over, Adzap, quiz, classical music etc. The judges were eminent personalities from different fields.

The team from Bala Vidya Mandir, Adyar won the overall title of Smaraneeyam and in Comvision, the winners were the team from Vidya Mandir, Mylapore.

The winner’s event was won by Nikhil Venkatesh of P.S.Senior Secondary School who was awarded The Mr. Smaraneeyam title and got a grand prize – iPad mini and it was sponsored by a school teacher from Sri Sankara school.

Both the host school and the participant schools seemed to have enjoyed the day. Student volunteers of class 11 and 12 of the host school, Sri Sankara Senior put in a lot of efforts to organise the fest and also brought in lots of sponsors like the Winners Academy, BSA cycles among them.
