Not just reading stories, but listening to them is also enjoyable experience. Chennai’s kids and adults had a chance to peep into the world of fantastic stories recently.
Chennai’s first Storytelling Night was held on Friday, February 19th, at Landmark, Citi Centre. In response to an invite, an overwhelming number of kids and their parents made it to the evening. The children loved it and the parents remembered they used to hear as children.
Scholastic India, the publishers of children’s books and Landmark brought the event to Chennai. All children (and many adults) also love to hear stories, and hence Scholastic started a Storytelling Night in Delhi and Kolkata and they have plans to have Storytelling Night in ten cities across India every three months.
Jaspar Utley was the first to enthrall the audience with his wonderful story.
Next came Aysha Rau followed by Shreekumar Varma, who told the story from ‘The Magic Store of Nu Tan Wo’.
Anitha Bennett, was very well received with her ‘Three Small Wolves and the Big Bad Pig’. The children simply loved the twists in the tale.
To top it off, the duo of Shobha and Kaushik Viswanath got the children on their feet and in splits. The children and parents were very enthusiastic and are certainly looking forward to more of these events.
