Bringing out the creativity in children

Are you interested in art and drawing? Then surely you should have attended the book reading event conducted at the SAS Connections Store in Besant Nagar. The book was ‘Creative expressions – say it with art’ written by Sangeeta Prasad. She is an art therapist, who studied in Washington and likes to do draw and paint. This is the first book by this author.

This book was launched last week in a grand event in Hotel Savera. The chief guest for this function was Dr. Nanditha Krishna, director, C. P. Art Centre and another guest was Dr. Geetha, journalist who has contributed for many newspapers.

This book is not a fiction or a novel. This book makes the reader understand that art is really important in life and makes them get interested in art. It took her five years to do all the research work and write this book. She says “No publisher wanted to publish this book and they told no one will buy it. But I got my own copyright and published it myself” with a smile.

This book tries to bring out the creativity in the children using traditional Indian art forms. For example the children are given a scenery and are asked to bring it out in the form of worli art.

This book is mainly for parents and art teachers and it tells them how to make art as important as regular subjects and teach them. It has some art lessons and many colourful pictures of drawings made by children. This book also explains how to use art therapy for the improvement of special children. If this book is added to school libraries it will be very useful for both students and teachers.

When asked about the response from the people, the author says ‘There has been really good response from the people who have bought it’. If you want to buy this book you may contact Sangeetha Prasad at music63@gmail.com.
