The Bala Vidya Mandir Dramatics Society presented its 5th annual production, ‘Nathu’s Dream’, written by the well known novelist, poet and playwright Shreekumar Varma.
The play was a musical and was held at the Sivagami Pethatchi auditorium on the Sep 7 and 9 in the evenings.
Neeta Srikanth, a BVM alumnus, directed the play. The Vanipriya Jayaraman composed music and dance was choreographed by Anjaly Ariyanayagam.
The story revolves around Nathu, an orphan who works at a cobbler’s shop and dreams of becoming a world famous sculptor.
Jay-Jay, his best friend, is the only one who can see the creators of this dream – The dream makers.
As it unfolds, the dream makers have to engage in a fight against the dream breakers, and the other children too face a mighty problem in the form of the superintendent at the shop. His friends, orphans too, soon learn that with every great dream, comes a great dreamer.
Theatre personality S. Krishna Kumar took up the role of the sound manager and lighting was done by Punya Srikanth.
The play explored the power of dreaming and gave the audience a fun-filled evening with song, dance and comic elements too.
