Rajashree Bhaskaran, a teacher and an active member of the Madras Youth Choir shares the experience of the children at the Choir Music Workshop conducted recently.
It was an exciting fortnight from May 13 to 24 for the handful of enthusiastic kids from the neighbourhood schools, Padma Seshadri, La Chateline and Chennai Public School who attended the choral music workshop conducted by the Madras Youth Choir at Tiny Teddies in K.K.Nagar.
Through the songs they learnt in various languages, they developed the aesthetic sense to admire and appreciate nature, felt proud of our country with its diversities and imbibed social values.
Their creative illustrations portrayed the ideas assimilated by them from the songs learnt.
While singing a Gujarati song ‘Aakash ganga’ when they learnt the meaning that the stars, moon and Sun belong to nobody in particular and so are the rivers and oceans, 9 year old Pranav exclaimed, “Then why has been there a fight over the Kaveri River!”.
This promising bunch of future citizens is sure to make a difference to the world.
On the concluding day they presented themselves as a choir to the small gathering of their relatives and friends and proudly received Certificates of appreciation for their enthusiastic participation.
When YOCee’s student reporters get busy, the team at YOCee’s small office takes up the role of the reporters, does the rounds, writes copies and files reports. The team also posts useful info and ePapers produced in-house.
