Flowery treat

The flower show 2009  was held at YMCA Grounds, Royapettah Chennai organised by Lifestyle Trade Fairs from May 1 to 17. The hall was fully air-conditioned and was welcoming.

20000 flowers both from India and abroad were displayed.The Ikebana arrangement was unique and attracted a large number of crowd.
The flowers were arranged in unique shapes like the a  tea cup, the India map, the Taj Mahal, Teddy bear and the cynosure of all the eyes was the big red Dinosaur.

Many tulips were arranged in different colours. Roses , row of them, carnations were soothing to the eyes different shades, wax flowers, Asiatic and oriental lillies.Vegetables show was a part of it Various  animals and birds, cut and carved from vegetables was spectacular to see; the big green bitter gourd  frog, the bringal penguins, bottle gourd fishes, bitter gourd parrots, shredded vegetables as a cock and hen.

Apart from the show there were many ornamental plants and consumer products available for sale.
Aquarium Show, Landscaping show, building and interior show were also part of the exhibition.

The flowers were designed by S.Sunder, a floriculturist based in Udhagamandalam.
Apart from the flower arrangement there were around About 100 stalls offered flowers, seedlings, varieties of flowers stems,  medicinal plants, herbs seedlings, bulbs, vases, accessories and a few sweets for sale. The purpose of this exhibition was for Interaction and business discussions among producers, traders and Industries to forge technical, financial and business alliances, the organisers said.

Nithya, a college student who visited the show, said that it was really a superb experience and It was really like having another Ooty in Chennai.

The show was extended till May 17 due to the request of the visitors. It was an affordable flower show that charged Rs.50/- per head and for Rs.100 for people with thair cameras.

The flower show received an overwhelming response.The organisers plan to host a similar show but with more different flowers next year.
