The biennial Grandparents day was held at Bala Vidya Mandir on Nov.15, 2008. The event lasted for an hour from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. and was held specially for the grandparents of the school students.
The vice-principal, Mrs. Sashikala Sriram was the host and many teachers and parents participated in the various plays, dances, etc.
The Grandparents were welcomed with hot tea and snacks and the evening’s proceedings began with an invocation to the Lord.
This was followed by a speech by the vice-principal and principal. A group of parents lead by Mrs. Jayanthi, the music teacher and Mrs. Jayashree Arun delighted the audience with their singing.
A well choreographed Bharatanatyam recital followed that. The pair of English teachers, Mrs. Tulsi and Mrs. Daffnee stole the show. A fun filled Tamil play revolving around SMS jokes of today’s cell phones added to the pleasure of the grandparents. “The play was great and was wonderfully directed and enacted by the teachers”, said Mrs. Radha, a grandparent at the event.
The programme ended on a vibrant note, with a tribal dance lighting up the stage.
“It was a wonderful experience, taking me back to my growing up years”, was a comment made by a grandparent at the event.
This summed up the event as a major hit among the ‘Tathas and Pattis’!
