Green campaign

Mannvaasanai is a festival to promote sustainable living among children and adults.

Aseema Trust is hosting a month-long festival called Mannvaasanai during January 2013. This festival aims at using art to sensitise children, their parents and teachers on sustainable living.

mannvasanaiUnder this campaign, a workshop with a group of ten traditional performing artists in Therukoothu, Oyilattam, Silambam, Bharathanatyam, poikkal kudirai have choreographed an open piece on sustainable living as a theme.
The production called Elimai Gitam bringing in wisdom from Tirukkural and Hind Swaraj on nature friendly living has been touring across the city schools through January.

Mannvaasanai mela, a one day mega event will be held on Jan. 30, 2013 at Valluvar Kottam in Nungambakkam from 10 a.m. onwards.

This mela will feature performances by artists and students, stalls of ideas on safe food, non toxic food, organic small garden ideas, recycling ideas, alternate power ideas, trying one’s hand on spinning, Tirukkural and its teachings on this theme and a stall on Hind Swaraj.

The mela is open to school children and the public.
