In an attempt to use public spaces for cultural activities, Mylapore Festival has been organised year after year since 2002. From kolam competition to heritage walks, classical dance to folk performances are set to be organised in and around Mylapore’s famed Kapaleeswarar temple. Nearly 40 events will be held at various venues in this neighbourhood in Chennai, between January 4 and 7, 2023.
Sundaram Finance has been organising concerts at Nageswara Rao Park, in the Luz neighbourhood. An event held in the morning without any electronic amplification. There is a chess tournament in collaboration with Chess Academy. The kolam contest on Saturday and Sunday is a big hit in this festival.
The ‘Spirit of Mylapore’ award is given at the festival to individuals / organisation who have been a part of Mylapore’s culture and contributed to the society.
