Unique Pongal celebration

The Pongal celebration took place on Jan. 13, 2010 in Rosary Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Santhome. It was also celebrated as the ‘Worker’s Day’.

The workers of the school were the chief guests for the day. The programme started with a short prayer and a bible reading by Preethi of standard X. The Principal along with a few workers inaugurated the celebration by lighting the kuthuvilakku.

The students gave away new clothes for the workers on behalf of the management. The school choir sang a beautiful song. The song was followed by a skit which gave out the importance of the Pongal festival. The students performed a dance too. The workers felt very happy and enjoyed the performance thoroughly.

Christhuvaraj, a worker of the school gave a speech. He thanked the Principal, teachers and students for making them happy. The students came in Indian traditional dress. Many games like puzzle making and lemon and spoon were conducted for the students. Many gifts were also awarded for the winners. Sweets were distributed to all the students.
