The summer in Chennai still continues to be hot. The water tankers are seen on the roads frequently these days and colourful plastic pots are back indicating the onset of water scarcity in the city.
But, on way to Madipakkam, about 50 meters away from the Velachery flyover, there is a Metro Water Pipeline, a part of which is leaking. A lot of good water is going to waste and no one seems to be taking any action to plug the leakage.
This leakage has been there for many days now. The community has tried to cover the hole by keeping sand bags close to it.
The wasted water gets mixed up with the garbage and gutter water near the pipeline. This pipe is nearly one meter in diameter and the water comes out with such a force that it falls about three to four meters away. Will the authorities take immediate action and stop wastage of drinking water?
