The Indian Schools Debating Society (ISDS) organised the first round of the Inter-School Debating Championship on Saturday, the 7th of August. This event, sponsored by Ramco Systems, was organized to select the five best speakers who will represent Team India at the Worlds Schools Debating Championship (WSDC) 2011 at Dundee, Scotland.
The tournament is in the league format, with eleven legs to be conducted between August 2010 and March of 2011. Bala Vidya Mandir, Gandhi Nagar, was the host for this week’s event. Eleven top schools in Chennai were represented by their A teams and B teams for two rounds of debating; a prepared round and an impromptu round.
Andrew Fitch will take charge of an Intensive Debating workshop for the top twenty five speakers from this tournament from which Team India will be selected.
