Game for reading a book?

Can you play a game while reading a book? Read on, you will know.

On July 31, a book was launched at Landmark at the Chennai City Centre. This book called ‘The Enemy of My Enemy’ was written by Anshumani Ruddra. The book has been published by Scholastic India, who introduced the author to the audience that day.

The author read from the book and taught the invited school children and the audience how to read from the book. For example, each page would have 2-3 options and each option would make the reader jump to another page. This book is about an agency that has a million baboons working on super computers to make plans.

According to the author this is from the proverb “A million monkeys working on typewriters will eventually produce Shakespeare”. In this book PRD Jhabvala an agent goes to fulfill these plans. The reader gets to control Jhabvala’s mind and choose for him. There are two teams –  The Crusaders of Chaos and The Knights of Order. The job of the Crusaders is to create Chaos and the job of the Knights is to come up with a suitable solution.

There was a question answer session after that, where the audience got to know something about the author. He has done his Chemical Engineering from IIT Madras.
He was asked interesting questions by the audience like “Did you get confused while writing this book?” and “Do you plan to make this book into a movie?”. He answered saying “No I did not get confused because I made a flow chart for guidance and reference and I don’t think I will make it into a movie. But if it becomes a movie, I will be very happy.”

Anshumani Ruddra has written short stories that appear in books published by Scholastic and has also brought an audio book called ‘Cricketmatics.’ Towards the end many of the children there, bought a copy of his book ‘The Enemy of My Enemy’ and got it autographed by him. The author will also be visiting schools in Chennai.
The Enemy of My Enemy is priced at Rs. 90.
