‘Go Green’, say the primary and Kindergarteners at PSBB

The Primary Department along with kindergarten department of Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan School KK Nagar conducted an awareness program on sustainable environment, on Jan. 29 as a part of the Primary GSP Project. This is an international link up programme between PSBB in India and Kellington School in York, London.

The awareness program was titled ‘Eco Ethos’.  As a part of the awareness programme, the students along with their parents formed a human chain on the school road holding placards and saying slogans carrying messages of the importance of trees.

Badges were also distributed to all the participants on the road that said ‘Save your Environment’.

The programme had a good response from both the parents and students. Parents participated in large numbers, despite it being conducted in the peak hour between 7.30 and 9 in the morning.

Meena, parent of Shruthi, said, “It’s a very good opportunity, the country is getting polluted and it is a good way to improve the condition of the country’s environment.
Bama Ravichandran, another parent said, “This message will pass on for sure, to all the children in this area and other places!”

Harini and Janani both students of 4th standard were seen carrying a slogan saying ‘Save our trees, Save our neighborhood’.  They said that they would plant trees and take initiatives by advising people as to the importance of trees.

Mrs. Rita Ramesh, Coordinator, GSP Primary of our school said, “Great opportunity, there are many places, but this the right place where we can reach a lot of people, we have passed on the message through the children”.

Mrs. Indira Vaidyanathan, principal, along with Mrs. Viji Mahalingam, Primary Headmistress said, “Everyone is fresh and ready to meet. Any PSBB activity involves parents, teachers, and children.”

Mrs. Chandra Srinivasan, academic advisor of the school  thanked the parents for taking time to participate in the program. “Even though it was a combined effort of the parents and students, the younger generation needs a lot of appreciation”, she said.
