The 61st Independence Day was celebrated with due reverence and gaiety in Sethu Bhaskara Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Pudur, Ambattur. A grand gathering of students welcomed the chief guest on that pleasant morning.
The chief guest of the happy occasion was Seetha Ramakrishnan, the Executive Director of S.C.S.Kothari Academy for Women, Chennai. She is the Former Principal of Kolaperumal Senior Secondary School.
The Principal pf Sethu Bhaskar Mr. S. P. P. Selva Kumar, in his welcome address, listed out her achievements. The students sensed adoration for her and felt happy to have her as the chief guest for the occasion. Hoisting the National Flag, she addressed the gathering, referring to the various freedom fighters who had sacrificed their life for the sake of our Motherland..
Teachers and students also spoke on the greatness of our Nation and the importance of every student, who will be the leaders of tomorrow, to be patriotic.

The entertaining part of the programme was the cultural show. The magnitude of the ‘500 voice choir’ was conspicuous. The choir treated the students with patriotic songs.
Other events of the cultural show concentrated on the concept of patriotism and unity.
The vote of thanks was delivered by the vice-principal Mr. V. Amarendiran. The programme ended with the National Anthem.
