An evening of music by the young

It was a great evening to watch three spectacular Carnatic music performances on Sep. 24, 2014 in Gallery Sri Parvati organised by Mantra Events. Called DaSaRa with Music, a series of music concerts were held held during Navarathri.

The first performance was rendered by young Sadhana, who has learnt music for 4 years. She started beautifully with Vatapi Ganapatim and rendered many other varnams and kritis. Sadhna is learning music from her guru Sulochana of Mylapore. She was accompanied by violinist Shreya and mridangam player Narasiman. Shreya who wants to take up violin as her profession is learning from her guru Rajesh of Mylapore.

Narasimhan whose mridangam spoke volume, is learning from guru Rengarajan of Mylapore. All three of them gave a beautiful performance and a bold rendition and all these children are studying in P.S.Senior Secondary School.

The second performance was rendered two cute little kids, Ananya and Akshanth. They sang Sri Gana natham, Madu Meikum Kanne and other songs beautifully with their beaming innocent faces. They both are learning music from guru Lavanya, who has been teaching in Chennai for the past two years and before in Sydney, Australia. Shreya again played the violin and Hariram played the mridangam alongside with them. Hariram is learning mridangam from guru Suresh in Mylapore.

The third performance was rendered by Anirudh and Amruthavarshini. They are also learning from guru Lavanya. They rendered beautiful varnams and kritis like Evari bodhana and Puraya mama kamam Gopala with Swetha, sister of Shreya, playing the violin and Hariram the mridangam . One can hear the maturity of their singing and accompaniments matching in vigour to the vocal rendition.

Lavanya the music teacher of Ananya, Akshanth, Anirudh and Amruthavarshini says that what she feels is very special about her music students is that, they are very talented and cooperative. Anirudh says he loves the sweet voice of his teacher.

The hall in which all the children performed was clean, neat and quite small, but it was decorated beautifully. And all the children used this opportunity to showcase their music talent beautifully and boldly.

Under the Yuva Sangeet performance, up and coming artiste Kalpalatika performed vocal concert. She said that her current guru is Prema Rengarajan. And she is also going to perform in the December season.

It was nice day to spend in listening to this music rendition. The December holidays will help us to attend more kutcheris.
