Students from eight Chennai schools made history by breaking a 15‑year‑old Guinness World Record. At the R.K. Convention Centre, on Jan 21, 2026, 4,008 children formed the world’s longest chain of people licking ice cream! The official attempt began at 12:45 p.m. and lasted for 1 minute and 10 seconds.
The participants, aged between 10 and 13, stood shoulder to shoulder across two large halls, each holding an Arun ice cream. To make sure everything went smoothly, organisers conducted two practice runs – without ice creams – so the children understood the rules and coordination. When the final moment arrived, the halls filled with laughter, excitement, and the sweet taste of victory.

This record was organised by Hatsun Agro Products Limited and Arun Icecreams, and it beat the previous record set in 2011. Guinness World Records officials were present to confirm the achievement, making it official.
