The Sivaswami Kalalaya Senior Secondary School celebrated its twentieth Annual Day this year.
The celebration was held at the Music Academy, Alwarpet, on Aug. 1
Titled ‘Layolaasika’, the day’s events were full of colourful dance and music.
Classical dancer Ms. Radhika Shurajit, Director Tharayee School of Bharatanatyam was the chief guest of the occasion. She also hosts the popular dance show on Jaya TV, ‘Thaka Dhimi Thaa’
The annual day began with a spellbinding music of the Choir. Then came the Fusion Music by the Kalalayans.
After the melodious music, Laavani, Maharashtrian folk dance followed, It was then the turn of Rajasthan folk dance.
The School had a formal presentation of the annual report and distributed prizes to students under various categories.
The meeting was followed by a stretch of dances again.
The ‘Bhagavatha Mela’ a Kuchipudi Dance on Lord Krishna, Kaikotukali, Malayalam Folk, Mohiniattam, Kacchighodi – all rendered by the students were feast to the eyes.
Towards the end the programme, students performed a ‘Jugalbandi’ of Bharanatyam and Mohiniattam.
The school put up an excellent show of music and dance.
The principal of the school, Mr. G. Neelakantan believes this could not have been achieved without the co-operation of the teachers and the participating students of the school.
