The school has a well maintained medicinal garden. Solar lamps and CFL bulbs are used in all classrooms.
All the waste materials are disposed in compost pits. The school segregates the waste in three different dustbins – green, blue and red.
The green one is for all the bio degradable materials such as food waste, pencil sharpening etc. All the reusable materials such as waste papers, cardboards and cartons are disposed into a blue one. And the red one representing the danger light is used to throw away non degradable materials like plastics.
All the students of the school are made aware of the three bins to make sure they throw the waste in the right bin.
Many saplings are planted in the school campus. The school creates awareness for the students as well as public about clean and green environment. This is carried on with the help of posters and charts prepared by the students. Many stage performances relating to green surroundings are held during assembly meetings to make the students understand the harmfulness of unclean surroundings in a simple way.
The Eco Club members of the school have put in a lot of effort to make the school clean and green. The members meet twice a month. The head of the Eco Club Ms. Amudha invites professionals to the club and gets the advice from them. The school calendar is also printed green to create awareness among the students.
The students and the staff of Rosary Matric have taken laudable effort to keep the school green and clean, which has won the school the prestigious award.
