Young Sai Smruthi a student of class 8 in PSBB, K. K. Nagar has won many awards to her credit. Recently she won the first prize in the letter-writing contest in English in the junior category, conducted by the Postal Department, Tamil Nadu Circle.
She is now a proud owner of a ‘Ladybird’ bicycle, which she received as a prize in the contest.
There were many topics to choose from, but Sai Smruthi chose to write about her trip to her grandmother’s village.
Why did this city girl choose the topic of going to a village?
“After my English teacher in school suggested me to participate in the contest, I went home and thought about all the topics available. But I decided on this, as it was closest to my heart. It was instinctive, actually,” says Sai Smruthi.
“I felt so happy and could not believe that I had won it! Especially, since the whole of Tamil Nadu participated in it!” she added.
This talented student is also a recipient of prizes in Bharatanatyam, essay writing and drawing contests in various contests.
She represents her school in many competitions, helps her classmates and decorates the board of the middle-school library in her school.
Sai Smruthi says,” I owe it all to my mother who was along with me and supported me all through.”
She loves to watch TV, play games, draw and sing.
