Nearly 140 photographs taken by nearly 30 photographers are displayed each showing an array of rare moments which we fail to notice in nature.
As you enter, Mr.Senthil, a photographer by profession gives you little a description on all the photographers, the location where it was taken and what most of the pictures mean. Most of the pictures have been taken by R.T.Sriram, A. Lakshmikanthan, K. Cyril.Rufus and many more.
The most surprising part of the exhibition is that most of the pictures were not taken by professionals but people who pursue photography as a hobby! Most of the pictures taken by K.Cyril.Rufus were taken within the 58acre Adyar Poonga land. 200 photos were to be added but due to the space limit and weather conditions, they are rethinking the addition.
Most of the children from government schools and schools from Ennore are regular visitors to the exhibition. “Most of these pictures not only depicts beauty but also has a message on how these beautiful creatures are rapidly reducing in numbers”, says Mr.Senthil. “Everyday students from various schools come for the exhibition and are also given a tour of our Master Plan. It is a good educational experience for them.”, he adds. Black and white pictures taken by noted photographer T.N.A Perumal are also displayed. He is from Bangalore but currently settled in Tanjore.
The Great Horned owl by A. Lakshmikanthan is the showstopper of the entire exhibition. Taken in Nanmangalam Reserve Forest, this picture defines exactly how an owl protects its little ones and how angry it gets when provoked. He has been visiting the Nanmangalam forests every three days a week for the past five years to get this perfect picture and has won an award in the nature category for it.
Overall the exhibition is worth a visit and very informative.
