The Hindu Senior Secondary School, Indira nagar, Adyar celebrated its Annual Day and Founders Day ecently on Sep. 4.
It was the day for remembering the founder Sri V.T.Rangaswamy Iyengar. Under the guidance of V.T.Rangaswamy Iyengar, Dr.N.C.Raghavachary amongst others, the school was founded in the year 1978 by the Hindu Educational Organisation.
S.S.Nathan, CEO of Bala Vidya Mandir group of schools was the gues of honour. Also present were K.Ganesan of Hindu Educational Organisation, Vice principals A.Kasiviswanathan and S.Rajakalai.
The celebrations began with an invocation song by Anahitha a class 12 student of the school. It was followed by an inspiring speech by the chief guest S.S.Nathan, a post graduate from Madras University, specialised in systems management, worked for Andhra Pradesh Government, author for B.A. English literature, recipient of many awards such as Best teacher award from CBSE and Padma Vidyasagar among others.
Vice principal of the school A.Kasiviswanathan read out the annual report for 2009-2010. He proudly announced that 68 out of 84 in class 12 secured distinction and the rest were placed in first division and 119 out 133 in class 10 secured distinction and the rest were placed in first division.
Students of classes 6 to12 staged a play Silappadhikaram, which was the highlight of the event. More than 100 students took part in this drama which included four dances. The dialouge for this drama was crypted by Dr.Barithal Begum, a faculty in Tamil.
Chief guest S.S.Nathan gave away the prizes to all the meritorious students.
