Get ready with your binoculars! Join the exciting Chennai Bird Race, an annual event where you and your friends can explore the world of birds. This event is perfect for families who want to have some fun outdoors and learn about nature together.
Organised by the Madras Naturalists’ Society (MNS), the 17th edition of the Bird Race is happening on February 3, 2024, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Teams of four will venture out to spot and count different bird species within a 60 to 80-kilometer radius of Chennai. The best part? You don’t need to be a bird expert to participate – it’s all about having a great time!
Parents, this is a fantastic opportunity to share your love for nature and conservation with your kids. Take a break from the daily routine, enjoy some fresh air, and discover the diverse birdlife in and around Chennai. Green Birding, introduced in the 2010 Bird Race, encourages teams to use public transport or their own feet to explore Chennai’s birding wonders.
