The Decennial celebrations of Lalaji Memorial Omega International School, Kolapakam, was celebrated on June 28 and 29, 2014.
The celebrations started with the classes 9 to 12 on June 26, 2014. Mr. P.Ravi, Regional Director, National Institute of Open Schooling, Chennai, was the special guest of honour for the day. This was followed by the two-day fair in the school campus conducted by the students and staff.
The celebrations had many stallsput up in the campus. They displayed innovative ideas such as vegetable carving, mehendhi designing, haunted house, and food stalls. Boys and girls studying in classes 6, 7 and 8 presented cultural performances.
A Blood donation camp in collaboration with the Lions Club, Chennai was also part of the event. Many of the parents and staff participated enthusiastically.
In the vision of Shri Parthasarathi Rajagopalachari, the founder, Omega school strives to produce youngsters with knowledge accompanied by the wisdom to use knowledge in the right way. The school believes that without this balance, the knowledge could often be destructive.
The school now has an addition of five more buildings to accommodate classes up to grade 12. The school has an international curriculum which includes Value-Based Spiritual Learning, Environmental Education, and co- curricular activities. Dance, music, sports, unconferences, debates, NCC, Scouts and Guides are among the many activities the students are introduced to.
The school has now over 4000 students with an inbuilt school hostel, has a student – teacher ratio of less than 20. The school has acquired the latest infrastructure and it also requires all the teachers to pass an English comprehency training programme that is conducted by The British Council.
The decennial celebrations will continue throughout the year.
