Rhapsody-Education through Music, founded by Anil Srinivasan, classical pianist along with NalandaWay Foundation is inaugurating the Music Literacy Project, a yearlong initiative with Chennai Corporation Schools on June 21, 2013.
This project will take music curriculum and teacher training to corporation schools across Chennai.
Rhapsody-Education Through Music, works with over 45000 school children across schools, bringing multiple genres of music into school classrooms. Nalanda Way Foundation is an NGO that works for the cause of children from difficult and disadvantaged situations and focuses on arts education and activities.
The new initiative will be inaugurated on the World Music Day – June 21, at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mylapore at 11 a.m.
T.N. Venkatesh I.A.S., Joint Commissioner of the Chennai Corporation will be the chief guest. On this occasion, children from different schools in the city will be performing with children from the Government Primary School, West Mambalam. They will be accompanied Sri Anil Srinivasan on the piano and Vedanth Bharadwaj on the guitar. Dr. Sudha Raja, principal faculty, Rhapsody has trained the children.
The event is open to all.
