The 20th annual Sports Day of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Annanagar was held on July 27, 2013 in a grand manner.
The school was bustling with students in their sports uniforms. The playground looked colourful , anxiously waiting for the events to start.
Mr. K.S.V.V. Prasad, Joint Commissioner, Customs, Excise and Service Tax Appellate Tribunal (CESTAT), Sashtri Bhavan, Chennai, was the guest of honour.
The events kick-started with the welcoming of the chief guest. It was followed by the March Past. The students belonging to the four houses – Abdul Kalam, C.V.Raman, Kalpana Chawla and Vikram Sarabhai, marched with great spirit. The Scouts & Guides and the N.C.C too marched along with enthusiasm.
Yukta of class XI, a national player in skating, was the torch bearer and lit the Olympic torch. Then, the sports captain S. Seema, a national level hockey player, led the oath-taking ceremony along with the chief guest. The primary class students presented a drill. Yoga was showcased by secondary students. The senior boys formed different types of pyramid that enthralled the audience. Parents too had fun playing lucky-corner.
Later, prizes were distributed to all the winners by the lady guest, Mrs. Kalabimbi Prasad. The results of the march past were also announced and C.V.Raman House came first. Abdul Kalam House won the overall shield for individual and group events and were crowned champions. The students cheered and clapped all along.
The chief guest addressed the students and encouraged for more participation in extra-curricular activities. The national anthem marked the end of this year’s events. The students enjoyed the refreshments served after the shows were over.
