The city of Chennai needs rains since there were no showers during the summer this year. The monsoon has to bring in water to the city and its suburbs.
It has indeed rained cats and dogs this week in Chennai. The showers have created a lot of turmoil in the city. It has brought out the worst out of the Chennai roads. Roads flooded, traffic jammed, drains clogged and what not but still the rain continues to pour. Even the most urbanised areas like Mount road, Ashok Nagar, Koyambedu and Anna Nagar come under the shelter of bad roads. Places that can be reached in just 45 minutes take two hours to reach. Chennai is called a metropolitan city; but it lacks the basic necessity of proper roads. To make things worse, there are the metro rail projects all over the city. These project works have narrowed down roads to a great extent.
In Chennai, the traffic has always been heavy but still it has been a moving one. But now due to rains and bad flooded roads the traffic has become so worse that everybody prefers staying at home. People brood, honk badly and yell as they wade their ways to office. It was also a disappointing affair even for students as there was no holiday declared in spite of such heavy downpours. Is this going to be the state of Chennai in the future?
Interesting report. Keep it up
