Birla Planetarium in Kotturpuram has organised guided viewing of the Lunar eclipse that will take place on April 4, 2015 evening. The eclipse is partially visible in Chennai. The eclipse lasts for about 3 hours from 3.47 p.m. to 7.15 p.m. (IST). Since the sunlight will still be on till 6.30 p.m. the total eclipse is not viewable in most part of the country. The moon would rise at 18.30 and when it rises, it would be seen as a partially eclipsed moon.
The guided viewing through telescopes at the planetarium is on from 6.30 p.m. onwards. For details, contact the planetarium at 24918787.
