It is the 33rd decennial year celebrations of P.S.Senior Secondary School which was making news.This year annual day lasted for four days.On the first two days it was held in the school premises at the open shed. On the next two days it was held at Narada Gana Sabha, Alwarpet.
The chief guest for the third day was Mr. R.D. Naseer, IAS officer presently serving as Tea Board Chairman, Conoor. On the fourth day,The chief guest was Dr.S. Ramachandran, Vice Chancellor, University of Madras.
The show started with orcheshtra preceeded by an invocation.The song
Shri Sharade, a varnam in Abheri raga, Shri Chamundeswari in Bilahari raga and a thillana in Senjurutti were presented.
The principal read out the annual report and the SPL Lacxmi Narasimhan delivered the Welcome address. Mrs. Usha Varadarajan, vice principal of the school read out the list of Prize Winners.
Prizes were Distributed by the chief guest. S. Prashanth of our school bagged most number of prizes. He was going to Bulgaria to attend the International Informatics Olympiad.
Mr. Nazeer, who was an alumnus of the school recollected that Mrs.Lakshmi Srinivasan, now the principal of the school used to be his teacher in class 7 and how she used to be jovial with the students. He also discussed the various opportunities available to the students. He also
added that the school was very good in academics but curbed other activities and sports.
He also shared an interesting anecdote in front of the three principals who had were present at the occasion – Mrs.Alamelu Ganapathi, Mrs.Vijayalakshmi Srivatsan (Former Principals) and Mrs.Lakshmi Srinivasan about a bomb scare started by one of his classmates to get a test cancelled at the school and how the then principal Mrs. Alamelu Ganapathi kept her cool and cleared the scare with the help of the bomb squad and later how they came to know the culprit who confessed it.

Next,the bharatnatyam dance’Pushpanjali’ potraying the divine manifestation of Lord Krishna, His omnipotence and supremacy of the divine throgh the Krishna Leela with the Govardhana and Kalinganarthana.
Following the dance recital, the senior students presented an English play titled ‘The refund’ originally written by Kathy Frintz. The actors were the students of classes 9 to 12. The central theme which revolves round An alumnus of the school who wants to get his tuition fees back with Surprises,Suspense & humour spice up this fun filled play.
The visual fiesta was followed by a Tamil play titled ‘Seeripaaindha Singam’ revolved around the story of Bhaktha Prahlada devotee of Lord Vishnu and how the Narasimha avatar takes its form when we go to the roots of the story.
Last of all the students had choir with Iyyarkai Deivame followed by a Hindi song and the school anthem ‘Vazhgave’.
The students have put up a good show & we hope that their efforts have yielded the best as expressed by the correspondent, A.N. Radhakrishnan.
