Sir Sivaswami Kalalaya, Mylapore hosted its much awaited culturals, Kalpa Kosha, on August 3 and 4, 2009. The inaugural function was held on the 3rd and the chief guest was the well known playback singer Chinmayi. She sang a few songs as the audience asked for it.
After that the ‘Rock on’ contest was held where music bands from various schools performed. More than 7 schools participated. The judges for this event were Dharbuka Siva and Naresh Iyer.
After all the contestants’ performances, the host school gave a fusion performance of the song ‘Mahaganapathim’ with the audience’s encouragement. Then the judges spoke and gave out the results. They said “Whenever we had gone to other programs, all the children had shouted and got their autographs, but today everyone is so disciplined.”
As the audience requested, Naresh Iyer sang few songs while Dharbuka Shiva played the drums. Then the results were announced; P.S.Senior Secondary School got the first prize.
Later that day a quiz was conducted by our principal. The other competitions conducted were – dumsharads, jewellery designing, ‘Art Attack’-T-Shirt designing. Then the ‘Twinkling toes’ dance competition was conducted.
There was also a news reporting contest – ‘Break the ice’ and the voice-over contest.
The memorable two day program organised by the students of Class 12 came to an end on evening of Aug. 4. It was on the whole a pleasant experience for all those involved, including the younger classes who gobbled up eatables from the different stalls that were put up in the school premises by Suriya Sweets and Adyar Bakery.
