The bright sunny day of 7th July 2014 witnessed the DAV Group of Schools, Gopalapuram, Chennai celebrating their Annual Athletic Sports Meet at The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai. Shri.C.Sridhar, IPS, Joint Commissioner of Police, Chennai North was the Chief guest for the evening. The other dignitaries on the dias included the Secretary, DAV Group of Schools, Shri Jaidev and the Principals of DAV Groups of Schools, Gopalapuram.
The event commenced with the ceremonial march past, which exhibited the hardcore practice of the students.The student contingent was led by Sports Secretaries of the School, Ms Jeniffer Sharon and Master Kaavya Bharath.The Chief Guest administered the solemn oath to the house captains and the participants and thereafter declared open the Meet.

The students of the primary section brimming with enthusiasm came forward with the mass drill.The uniformity with which the drill was displayed made the spectators spell bound. This was followed by the athletic events, which included the house relays and sprint finals. All the participants gave their best shot at in the track events. Those who were not participating were even more enthusiastic and cheered the participants in order to ensure the victory of their houses.The winners took great pride in posing for the cameras while they stood at the fabulously decorated victory stand.
In his address to the students the Chief guest said that on seeing the celebrations at the event he was transported down his memory lanes to his good old school days. He stressed on the importance and need for sports in students life and told children how sports would enable development of overall personality.
The Bharathi House bagged the prize for the best house for March Past both in the Boys and Girls category.The Shivaji and Tagore House brought cheers in the Boys and Girls Section respectively by winning the Overall Rolling Trophy.
The Closing march Past was also a visual treat.The event concluded by Mrs.R. Kanjana, Physical Education Teacher, proposing the vote of thanks.
