With the huge increase in the starting up of debating societies, club, competitions coming up in the city, there is one more to add to the growing list.
The Bait.
Aiming at free speech and liberal thought, this was organised by the Debate Club, an initiative of Bhavan’s Rajaji Vidyashram and Lady Andal Venkatasubba Rao School and conducted on Oct. 21 and 22.
About 24 schools participated in this event, and the team from Sriram Law Academy, T. Nagar, branch was awarded the first prize of Rs.10, 000 and a lunch at the GRT for the team members.
This event contributed to the honing of the art of debating possessed by the youth in the city.
The Judges, Former Central Vigilance Commissioner N.Vittal, Commodore Shekar from Eastern Indian Naval Command, Sanjay Pinto, Executive Director, NDTV-Hindu and George Thomas, Editor, Indian Journal for Medical Ethics, and the audience, found the event to be one of high standards and a nail-biting one.
The Team Members, Himabindu. P, Charvi Badani, Shreya Murali, Shruthi Anand and Hareepriya N, all unanimously agreed that defeating PSBB K.K.Nagar in the Quarter final round was their biggest hurdle.
This collaborative venture by the students of both the organising schools, hopes to continue to conduct this event for many years to come, standing by their mission.
