PSBB, KK Nagar renewed its conviction to saving the earth in every little way we can in this year’s ‘99999
Turn Off Lights Campaign’ .The persistent efforts of the ExNoRa club motivated the Eco Club to put up a campaign on the adverse effects of global warming on human existence.
A similar campaign was held last year, engendered by the passion of the school children and teachers alike.
The newly formed Eco Club sustained the campaign this year and named it ‘The 99999 Campaign’ – meaning on the 9th day of the 9th month of the 9th year of the millennium, lights all over the world are turned off for 9 minutes at 9 pm as an effort to spread consciousness.
From around 7.45 the students of PSBB KKN formed a human chain outside the school holding vibrant placards bearing a number of original slogans and novel cartoons, telling passers-by to turn off the lights.
Enthusiastic students from classes 7 to 12 participated in this human chain.
One of the participants, Niveditha said that she was concerned about the environment and was very happy that the school took up this project and spread the message across.
Tha campaign was to save our planet, our only home…we have nowhere else to go. From space when we see our earth we do see a lot of blue and green. Let us try to keep it this way, for we don’t own the earth. We haven’t inherited the earth from our forefathers; we have borrowed it for our children. All the participants echoed this feeling.
