Mathematics is fun. If you don’t believe this, be there at the two-days event Forays hosted by the Department of Mathematics, IIT Madras on March 15 and 16, 2014.
The event is put together by the students of M.Sc, M.Tech (IMSC) and Ph.D students along with the faculty of the Department of mathematics, IIT-Madras.
There are events, talls, movies, contests, quiz and exhibition – all on Mathematics. While the events on March 15 are for college students, the next day March 16 is reserved for school students.
Senior students from class 8 and above can participate in the events.
In the event, Math Works, school students can exhibit a working model which applies Mathematics and win prizes. The event is on March 16 at 2.45 p.m.
The Olympiad is an event for individual participants. Held in two levels (Class 8 to and Class 11 & 12), the students can prove their apptitude in Mathematics. This is on March 16 at 11.40 a.m.
Battle of Brains is a quiz for students of class 11 & 12. Students can participate in teams of two. On March 16. At 4.30 p.m.
Good in solving puzzles? Then go for the Treasure Hunt event. Open to students of class 8 to 12. This is a team event and three students form a team. On March 16 at 10 a.m.
There are also events for everyone interested in mathematics. A film screening, talks by eminent scholars are lined up on these days.

When YOCee’s student reporters get busy, the team at YOCee’s small office takes up the role of the reporters, does the rounds, writes copies and files reports. The team also posts useful info and ePapers produced in-house.
