World Chess Champion, Namma Chennai’s Vishwanathan Anand was at Chinmaya Heritage Centre, Chetput on June 29, 2013. The current holder of the World Crown and 5 times World Champion delivered a talk on ‘Winning Edge’.
C. Siva Kumar, from Tanishq Anna Nagar welcomed the gathering and Swami Mitrananda, Acharya, Chinmaya Mission dwelt briefly on Mind–Body Alignment, wherein he equated ‘Total Quality Mind’ with ‘Total Quality Management’. T. N. Manoharan, a Padma Shri awardee and former president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, gave the introductory speech.
Vishwanathan Anand was greeted by thunderous applause by the students. Vishy, as he is popularly known, spoke about his life, passion for chess, his hard work and relentless pursuit to master the game. He explained how he managed success and failures, praise and criticism during his journey. He emphasised on the need to develop enthusiasm and passion, in whatever task one undertakes. His mantra for success “Investing qualitative time in what one likes will help in scaling greater heights” was well received by the audience. His smile, simplicity and forthrightness was appreciated by one and all.
The speech was followed by an interactive Q&A session. Students, who asked bright questions were rewarded with a photograph signed by Mr. Anand.

The event was very educative and motivational for the young minds. The memories of coming face to face with a World Champion from our country will be cherished by the students forever.
